Track Lighting Primer
Track lighting is not what it used to be, it was refined in the last few years. The esthetics of the tracks were greatly improved. No more of these plain looking clunky tracks and heads. Plus, today´s tracks have more options, install a pendant on a track and choose the fixture with the right color, size, light source and style.

Here are the advices, tips and facts about track lighting fixtures compiled by the Lighting Experts team:
- First, there are two types of tracks: line voltage 120v and low voltage 12v. The advantage of line voltage is that you can install 15 or 20 spots on the track with one power supply. Low voltage tracks are limited by a transformer capacity and you can only install line voltage spots on them whereas line voltage tracks allows multiple for choices of spots (HID, Incandescent, low voltage, etc)
- Track lighting is ideal for retrofit; because you only need one electrical box to light a whole room where if you wanted to install recessed lighting you would need much more.

- Use a line voltage track (120v) in your kitchen. Install spots of different sources for your different lighting needs. Add a pendant to the track which goes down on your island or table.

- Some line voltage tracks available on the market offer the same esthetics as low voltage tracks but are bendable and can be suspended at the right height for proper lighting.
